A group of Ivy League athletes delivered strong performances this past weekend at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the Randal Tyson Track Center. In total, 11 Ivy League student-athletes and one relay team qualified for the national meet, showcasing the conference’s talent on one of the sport’s biggest stages.

Among those competitors was Alexandra Kelly of Princeton University, a former standout at Rocky Point High School. Kelly entered the competition in the long jump seeded 14th with a mark of 6.50 meters, but quickly exceeded expectations with an outstanding performance.

Competing against some of the top athletes in the country, Kelly surged up the standings and ultimately finished third overall in the event. Her jump not only secured her a spot on the podium but also marked a significant personal achievement. Along the way, Kelly set a new personal record while also breaking the Princeton program record in the long jump.

The result was one of the most impressive performances by an Ivy League athlete at the meet and highlighted Kelly’s continued growth at the collegiate level. Her ability to rise from a lower seed to a top-three finish demonstrated both her competitiveness and composure under pressure on the national stage.

In addition to her podium finish, Kelly’s performance earned her First Team All-American honors, one of the highest individual distinctions in collegiate track and field. The recognition places her among the elite athletes in the country and adds another milestone to an already accomplished career.

Kelly’s success also reflects the strength of Long Island’s track and field pipeline, as former local standouts continue to make an impact at the collegiate level. Her journey from Rocky Point to Princeton and now to the national podium serves as an example of the opportunities available to dedicated student-athletes.

With a record-breaking performance and All-American recognition, Kelly’s showing at the national championships stands as a defining moment in her career and a proud achievement for both her hometown and university program.
