Pedestrian Killed in Route 347 Crash Identified

Police have identified the pedestrian killed in a car crash on Route 347 in Lake Grove as Elizabeth Jensen, 46, who was described as undomiciled, meaning she was homeless or did not have a permanent address.

According to Suffolk County Police, the crash occurred Jan. 26 at approximately 10:15 p.m. near the intersection of Route 347 and Moriches Road.

Fourth Squad detectives said Jensen was in the roadway when she was struck by an eastbound 2023 Honda HR-V. 

Emergency personnel responded to the scene, and Jensen was pronounced dead there by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the vehicle, Sofia Ng, 19, of East Northport, was not injured, police said.

 The Honda was impounded for a safety inspection as part of the ongoing investigation.

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
