William Floyd High School Cosmetology program supports local families with holiday donations

The William Floyd High School Career and Technical Education (CTE) Cosmetology program has contributed to holiday charitable efforts by donating items to Colonial Youth & Family Services. Throughout December, junior and senior cosmetology students collected toys, supplies, and essential everyday items such as soap, deodorant, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. The donations came from the William Floyd High School community. In total, 34 baskets filled with these items were prepared for delivery to Colonial Youth.

In addition to collecting donations, junior cosmetology students organized a fundraiser at the school. They offered $5 paraffin hand wax treatments to faculty and staff. This service involves dipping hands in warm paraffin wax to hydrate skin and soothe joints while allowing students to practice their skills. The fundraiser raised $295 for a second donation toward the Colonial Youth holiday program.

“Special thanks to all of those who donated and a job well done to the cosmetology students and teachers, including Ms. Karisa Beyer, Ms. Ta-Juana Portier, Ms. Alyssa Purpi and Ms. Christina Tepedino!”

The William Floyd School District serves more than 9,400 students across 10 schools in New York State as a public K-12 educational institution according to its official website. The district offers programs in STEM fields, career training—including technical education like cosmetology—arts, athletics, music education recognized among top communities statewide, and business education honored by state associations as noted on its website. The district emphasizes collaboration among students, parents, educators, staff members and the wider community to support student development in academic and personal growth as described online.

These recent charitable activities reflect ongoing efforts by William Floyd School District students and staff to serve their local community during the holiday season.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
