Moriches Elementary celebrates holidays with student projects and annual concert

Moriches Elementary School, part of the William Floyd School District, organized several activities for students during December as part of its “December to Remember” spirit month. The school partnered with New York State Senator Dean Murray’s office to create holiday greeting cards for Voices for Seniors, a local organization that supports seniors living in nursing homes.

Students decorated the cards and wrote messages inside before donating them. The project included discussions about how small acts of kindness can make the holiday season more meaningful. According to the school, "It was a truly wonderful way to give back to the community during this festive time of year."

The month also featured the annual Moriches Holiday Rock Concert. Music teachers and other faculty members formed a band to perform classic holiday songs for students. Characters such as Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, Buddy the Elf, and the Grinch made appearances on the roof during the event.

The William Floyd School District serves over 9,400 students across 10 schools in New York and is recognized for its music education programs and collaborative approach among students, parents, and educators (official website). The district provides comprehensive K-12 education with programs in STEM, arts, athletics, and career training (official website).

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
