A New York-based company has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that it was defrauded through a purported investment opportunity that resulted in substantial financial losses. The complaint accuses multiple defendants of inducing the company to transfer funds under false pretenses.

The plaintiff, UCS Trading Inc., alleges that its e-commerce operations were severely disrupted after its Amazon seller account was suspended, restricting access to funds and inventory. According to the complaint, during this period of financial difficulty, the company’s owner was introduced to Zev D. Deutsch, who claimed to have experience resolving Amazon account suspensions and recovering frozen assets.

The lawsuit alleges that Deutsch proposed an investment involving the purchase and resale of Apple iPhone 17 devices through The Moroccan Deal Inc., promising fixed returns within a short period. UCS Trading asserts that it transferred a total of $350,000 to the defendants based on these representations. The complaint claims that the promised transactions never occurred and that Deutsch later refused to return the funds.

UCS Trading further alleges that it later learned the investment opportunity was fictitious and part of a broader pattern of deceptive conduct. The complaint claims that a portion of the transferred funds was recovered through a payment provider, but that a substantial amount remains unrecovered due to bank accounts being closed or suspended. The plaintiff also alleges that The Moroccan Deal Inc. had been administratively dissolved but continued operating, and that Deutsch and Yasmina Benmassaoudi should be held personally liable for their roles in the alleged conduct.

The lawsuit asserts claims for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and fraudulent inducement, and seeks compensatory and punitive damages for alleged financial losses and expenses.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney Mark Berkowitz of Tarter Krinsky & Drogin LLP. The case was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York under Case No. 25-cv-6662

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
