Four William Floyd High School juniors chosen for eVoco choral performance

Dr. David Fryling, eVoco’s founding conductor and artistic director | William Floyd School District

Four juniors from William Floyd High School have been selected to perform with the eVoco Voice Collective, a choral ensemble recognized for its focus on combining poetry and music through group singing. The students chosen are Hajaratu Barrie, Genesis Canas Vega, Stefania Conte, and Shirley Galindo Jeronimo.

Their selection was based on their high scores in solo performances evaluated by the New York State School Music Association last spring, as well as their commitment to the William Floyd Music Department. Donia Rivera is credited as their director.

The four students were among only 11 from Suffolk County given the chance to work and perform with Dr. David Fryling, eVoco’s founding conductor and artistic director.

"These incredibly talented students, under the direction of Donia Rivera, were selected for their New York State School Music Association A+ solo scores last spring, and their incredible musicianship and dedication to the William Floyd Music Department. They were four of just 11 students from across Suffolk County who had the opportunity to perform and work with eVoco founding conductor and artistic director, Dr. David Fryling. Congratulations to the students on this prestigious honor!"

The event highlights both individual achievement and recognition for the school’s music program.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
