Wolfie’s Holiday Toy Drive will take place on Wednesday, December 10, beginning with a parade at 9:30 am from the Charles B. Wang Center and ending at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.
The event was established to bring support to children and families spending the holidays in the hospital. Over time, it has become an annual tradition for Stony Brook University, focusing on service and community engagement.
This year, the Division of Enterprise Risk Management is leading the initiative with involvement from first responders, mobility teams, safety personnel, and emergency experts. The aim is to support those in need within the university community.
For the first time, the parade route will cover both West and East Campuses of Stony Brook University. It includes stops at the Student Union—where free cookies from David’s Cookies truck will be distributed—and at the Long Island State Veterans Home as a gesture of appreciation to veterans.
The main focus remains on children and families at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital. Organizers note that "Many will watch from their windows, some will receive a gift from Santa and a few helpers. All will feel the campus behind them and that they are not alone in their health journey."
Donation boxes have been placed in high-traffic areas across campus, along with two wish lists to encourage participation. Additional information about donation locations and wish lists can be found on the ERM website.
