Stony Brook celebrates homecoming with Wolfstock Weekend events

Stony Brook University hosted its 44th annual Homecoming festival, known as Wolfstock, over the weekend. The event brought together students, alumni, faculty, and staff for a series of activities on campus.

The highlight was the Homecoming football game on Saturday, where Stony Brook's team secured a 27-19 victory against Towson University. This marks their second consecutive Homecoming win and fourth overall win this season. Running back Roland Dempster contributed significantly with 181 yards and two touchdowns on 40 carries. Quarterback Quinn Boyd threw for 176 yards and completed his first career touchdown pass to Dez Williams.

During halftime, three students received notable prizes: Joshua Isaac won a semester of free housing through a random drawing; Carly Dunn earned a semester of free tuition by winning the bumper ball race; and Mark Koch received a $1,500 prize in the graduate student giveaway. The first 500 students at the game were given limited edition Wolfstock T-shirts and thundersticks.

The event also included the crowning of Homecoming royalty: Karega Atkinson Jr., Jaiden Francis, and David Safo. Other members of the court were Madison Cinalli, Sarah Elbaroudy, Lana Gouda, Bryant Peña, Luca Rallis, Shanell Rollon, and Christopher Yang. The Spirit of Stony Brook Band performed during halftime as it marked its 20th anniversary.

Wolfstock Village BBQ provided games and food for attendees. Alumni from classes between 1961-1975 attended a special reunion that recognized the Class of 1975’s 50th anniversary with an induction into the Brook Heritage Society.

The festival featured several events including lectures by university deans, the Seawolves Showcase at Stony Brook Arena—now in its fifteenth year—and other activities like Homecoming Harvest and Spooky Brook.

President Andrea Goldsmith participated in “Meet the President” at Charles B. Wang Center on Thursday and took part in Friday’s Investiture Ceremony for ten newly invested faculty members holding endowed positions.

Homecoming weekend concluded Sunday with over 800 participants—including President Goldsmith—in the Wolfie Dash 5K Walk/Run held on campus.

“Crossing the finish line was a thrill, but it was just one highlight in a weekend packed with truly memorable and meaningful moments with our wonderful alumni,” Goldsmith said in her Instagram post. “I’m filled with pride, joy and deep gratitude for every experience and encounter.”
