Twenty-five fourth-grade students from the William Floyd School District have been selected to participate in the 17th annual Suffolk County Music Educators' Association (SCMEA) PEAK Festival, which will be held on October 18 at Northport High School. The students represent all six elementary schools in the district.

The PEAK Festival, which stands for Parents, Educators and Kids, features a series of musical workshops designed to bring together students, their families, and teachers to experience music collectively.

This year marks the first time that all six elementary schools in the district—John S. Hobart Elementary School, Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School, Moriches Elementary School, Tangier Smith Elementary School, William Floyd Elementary School, and the William Floyd Learning Center—are represented at the festival.

In a letter to participants and their families, PEAK Festival co-chairs Cristen Salisbury and Jennifer Fischer wrote, “It is a big honor to be selected for this event. You should be quite proud of your child’s musical accomplishments. I congratulate both your child and your family on this impressive musical achievement.”

The students selected from Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School are Israel Bravo, Ava De La Rosa, and Cristalina Flores (teacher Christopher Miranda), as well as Dayana Godinez Cuamatitla, Olivia Le, and Cristian Romero (teacher John Sapanaro). Tangier Smith Elementary School participants include Sage Almonte, Lyanna DeJesus, Geniece Griffin, Michelle Guzman, Gwendolyn Vicidomine, and Raine Woods (teacher Jessica Marks). Moriches Elementary School is represented by Jayden Diaz Cruz, Michael Dyvynsky, and Logan Stark (teacher Jessica Salaway), and Keyla Amaya Inamagua, Amelia-Mae Georges, and Anyelo Gomez (teacher Zachary Carillo). From William Floyd Elementary School, Habiba Barrie, Karissa Keenan, Addelyn Miles, and Dorothea Pagano (teacher Maria Rueda) were chosen. John S. Hobart Elementary School students Matthew Flores Santana and Kaylie Zambrano (teacher Tomas Bradbard) will also participate. Joseph Forster from the William Floyd Learning Center (teacher Allison Prestia) completes the list of honorees.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
