Michele LaMartina, a lifelong Patchogue resident known for her tireless community service and leadership, was celebrated as one of the community’s outstanding Women of Distinction. The honor recognizes her decades of volunteerism, mentorship, and dedication to education, family, and local business.
Assemblyman Joe DeStefano presented the award, praising LaMartina as a model citizen whose commitment has strengthened the fabric of the community. “Michele embodies the spirit of service that defines Long Island,” DeStefano said. “She leads with heart, humility, and purpose, and her impact is felt across every corner of the Patchogue-Medford area and beyond.”
LaMartina has lived in Patchogue for 53 years and built a respected career in hospitality, serving as general manager of the Harbor Crab restaurant for the past four years after seven years in leadership at Mediterranean Manor. She credits her mentors, colleagues, and friends for encouraging her commitment to public service.
A proud mother, she calls her son Joseph her greatest achievement. Beyond family, LaMartina has chaired the Kris Kringle Golf Outing, led the Patchogue-Medford FAME organization and the South Ocean PTA—where she earned the Jenkins Award—and co-chaired the Pat-Med 2024 Bond Committee.
Her involvement extends to the Robert Stingo Memorial Foundation, the Patchogue-Medford Hall of Fame, and numerous Chamber of Commerce initiatives, including the Patchogue River Front Committee and the Christmas Boat Parade.
“Every community needs a Michele LaMartina,” DeStefano said. “Her leadership lifts others up and inspires the next generation to get involved. It is an honor for me to honor her.”
The ceremony was held at the South Country Ambulance headquarters in Bellport, where LaMartina was joined by family, friends, and fellow honorees. In accepting the award, she expressed gratitude to those who supported her journey, saying, “Service is the greatest reward of all. It is my pleasure to help others.”
