A former IT Director has filed a lawsuit against her previous employer, alleging discrimination and wrongful termination.
Alexandra Mulvey brought the complaint against the African American Planning Commission, Inc. (AAPCI), and its managing member, Matthew Okebiyi, asserting that she was subjected to discriminatory treatment during her employment.
According to the complaint, Mulvey was hired on June 20, 2023, as the Director of Information Technology. She alleges that despite her qualifications and experience, she experienced age, gender, and racial discrimination while working at AAPCI. The complaint claims that younger male employees were favored over older female employees and that Mulvey was undermined by less qualified subordinates.
The filing further alleges that Okebiyi fostered a workplace environment where Mulvey’s contributions were minimized and her expertise disregarded. It cites instances where she was instructed to seek advice from male colleagues with less experience and where her attire was criticized while similar behavior by male employees was ignored.
Mulvey also claims that after she reported harassment by a male coworker to Okebiyi and Human Resources, she was assigned unrealistic tasks intended to prompt her resignation. She alleges that in May 2025, she was terminated under the pretext of position elimination, though AAPCI’s website later showed an all-male IT department.
The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages for lost wages and emotional distress, alleging violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967 (ADEA), and state laws including the New York State Human Rights Law (NYSHRL) and New York City Human Rights Law (NYCHRL). It also seeks punitive damages.
The plaintiff is represented by attorney Robert Wisniewski of Robert Wisniewski P.C. The case was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York under case ID 1:25-cv-05463.
