The William Floyd Colonials football team secured a 20-0 victory over Brentwood during the school’s 2025 Homecoming event at the Lincoln Avenue Sports Complex. The game, which drew a capacity crowd, capped off a weekend of activities that began with a pep rally and dance on Friday, followed by a parade and homecoming coronation on Saturday.
Head coach Paul Longo led the Colonials to their second win of the season. The team relied on strong performances from both offense and defense. Senior Jayden Johnson recorded 11 tackles and four sacks, while junior Jake Rivera added 13 tackles, including four for loss, and three sacks. On offense, senior running back Ja’Quan Thomas rushed for 304 yards and scored all three touchdowns.
With this win, the Colonials remain undefeated at 2-0 and are currently ranked number one. Their next game is scheduled against Sachem East on Friday, September 26 at 6 pm.
The Homecoming festivities included contributions from local organizations such as the Mastic Beach Fire Department, which displayed an American flag; NJROTC for presenting the colors; WFHS Pep Band for music; as well as participation from various school clubs and community groups.
