This week, the Eastport-South Manor Central School District proudly announced that three of its most accomplished student-musicians have been selected for the prestigious New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Winter Conference Honors Ensembles.
This highly anticipated annual event will take place upstate in Rochester from December 4th to December 7th.
Jayden Dell’Isola earned a coveted position in the All-State Symphony Orchestra, where he will showcase his exceptional viola chops.
Logan Penkower has been selected as a Tenor 1 vocalist for the All-State Mixed Choir, reflecting his outstanding vocal ability and dedication to choral music.
Lastly, Bennett Leselrod marks the third ESM Shark tabbed to flaunt their musical charisma at NYSSMA this year. He was recognized for his excellence on the oboe and named an alternate for the All-State Festival Instrumental Ensembles as well.
Selection to the All-State Honors Ensembles is an extraordinary accomplishment. Each year, over 6,800 high school students from across New York audition for a limited number of spots.
Students must first participate in NYSSMA solo evaluations at the local level and receive top scores to qualify. Those selected represent the finest rising musicians the state has to offer.
In a statement, the district expressed pride in the dedication, talent and work ethic of these students. Their success is a testament to the strength of Eastport-South Manor’s music program and the invaluable guidance their teachers impart.
Participation in the NYSSMA All-State Conference offers students the chance to rehearse and perform with other top musicians under the direction of esteemed conductors and educators.
The district concluded by extending its heartfelt congratulations to Jayden, Logan and Bennett as they prepare for the experience of a lifetime.
Be on the lookout for more Suffolk County students representing their respective districts on one of New York’s most celebrated musical stages.
