Suspended Suffolk County Police Officer, George Trimigliozzi, plead guilty recently to multiple charges including Promoting Prostitution, Official Misconduct, and Unlawful Imprisonment. Trimigliozzi is also the subject of claims that implicate Suffolk County claiming lack of action by the Police Department (SCPD) and the District Attorney’s office.
A Notice of Claim has been filed in Suffolk County Court against Suffolk County by Bayshore resident, Gilbert Giegel, Jr. claiming that Trimigliozzi, and by extension the SCPD, failed to properly investigate in response to a robbery and extensive vandalism.
Giegel rented part of his house to Nicole Brass-Tskoris(aka Carbone) and John Carbone. Giegel eventually asked them to leave. When they left, Giegel discovered his home had been vandalized, items of value had been stolen, and parts of his religious icon collection had been destroyed.
Giegel filed a complaint with the police alleging a religious bias violation, theft and damage to property. SCPD Officer Esposito did come to the house but did not go into the house to investigate. Two weeks later, “Officer George Trimigliozzi and another came to the house. They took photos but never took fingerprints, physical evidence or went upstairs to look at the hole in the ceiling carved by the Carbones.”
The Notice of Claim says, “The Suffolk County PD failed to charge Brass and Carbone and the District Attorney has declined to follow up.”
Savitt & Krantz helped file the Notice of Claim. Savitt said, “There were a couple of incidents when this couple lived in my client’s house. The upshot was that the female was working out of a place (of prostitution) that was owned/run by Trimigliozzi. When the couple finally moved out, according to Giegel, they totally trashed the house and no investigation followed.” Trimigliozzi was the responding officer.
It is alleged that there is a connection between Carbone being part of the prostitution ring associated with Trimigliozzi and Trimigliozzi failing to properly investigate the alleged crimes against Giegel.
SCPD says they are “actively investigating the complaint” and the US Department of Justice has said they are reviewing the claims. No timetable is attached to the reviews.
