Carl Chin, 41, of Bay Shore, was arrested on Saturday, September 13th, after attempting to flee during a traffic stop. The incident culminated in the discovery that he possessed nearly three ounces of fentanyl.

He was driving westbound on Sunrise, east of exit 51 in Patchogue when a Deputy Sheriff attempted to pull him over for failing to maintain lane.

Chin was reluctant to yield before complying. However, deputies immediately observed that he had thrown a substance out of his vehicle as he resigned.

The bag was recovered and subsequently confirmed to carry approximately 82 grams of the aforementioned lethal drug.

Consequently, Chin was arrested and charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Sell, both 3rd Degree offenses. He was also booked on an Unlawful Fleeing from Police charge, amongst others.

Chin was arraigned on Sunday, September 14th, remanded to the Suffolk County Correctional Facility in Yaphank, and later released on $100,000 bond.

Said Sheriff Errol D. Toulon, Jr: “Fentanyl is one of the deadliest drugs on our streets today, and the amount recovered here could have caused countless overdoses and deaths."

“I commend our deputies for getting it out of our community,” he added, “and for ensuring the criminal responsible will face justice.”

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
