30 Stony Brook faculty honored with SUNY Chancellor's Awards

Thirty faculty and staff members from Stony Brook University have been recognized with the 2024-2025 State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence. These awards are given to honor superior professional achievement and to promote continuous excellence across SUNY campuses.

The Chancellor’s Awards recognize achievements in several categories, including Faculty Service, Librarianship, Professional Service, Scholarship and Creative Activities, Classified Service, Teaching, and Adjunct Teaching. Through these honors, SUNY acknowledges the dedication of its instructional faculty, librarians, and professional staff.

Stony Brook University's honorees include:

For Excellence in Faculty Service: Eva Nagase from Asian and Asian American Studies; Jeannie Guglielmo from Clinical Laboratory Sciences; Jessica Seeliger from Pharmacology; Elizabeth Montegary from Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies; Tara Huston from Surgery.

For Excellence in Librarianship: Christine Fena from General Library Public Service; Laurel Scheinfeld from HSC Library.

For Excellence in Professional Service: Amanda Flanagan from Mechanical Engineering; Dawn Huether from the Institute for Theoretical Physics; Isobel Breheny-Schafer from Student Union and Activities; Stefanie Massucci from the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences; Jeffrey Miwe from Housing Administration; John Fitzgerald from HSC Library; Lindsi Walker from International Academic Program; Lobna Kahek from Chemistry; Tracey Iorio from Academic & Transfer Advising Services.

For Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities: Elizabeth Boon in Chemistry; Gábor Balázsi at the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology; Jason Trelewicz in Materials Science and Chemical Engineering; Katheryn Twiss in Anthropology; Maria Fernandez-Serra in Physics and Astronomy.

For Excellence in Teaching: Ahmad Esmaili in Computer Science; Amy Hammock at the School of Social Welfare; Inefta Reid-Martin in Physiology and Biophysics; Isaac Carrico in Chemistry; Karen Lloyd in Art; Rita Nezami at the Program in Writing and Rhetoric; Susan Scheckel in English.

For Excellence in Adjunct Teaching: Bryan Horan at the Institute for STEM Education and Eric Miller at Honors College.

Record Setting Maggie McCormick Competes at Nationals
