On June 3, 2025, Supervisor Daniel J. Panico and Councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig were present at the demolition of a blighted property located at 579 Riviera Drive in Mastic Beach. The Department of Recycling and Sustainable Materials Management conducted the demolition.
Supervisor Panico commented on the event, stating, “The unspoiled views along the waterfront in Mastic Beach, from land or sea, will no longer be marred by this monument of blight which was demolished by the Town of Brookhaven. The property will be preserved and added to the hundreds of lots that we have acquired to keep the area the beautiful place that it is.”
Councilwoman Dunne Kesnig expressed her satisfaction with the demolition process: “I was thrilled to join Supervisor Dan Panico to watch the demolition of this long-standing eyesore. The land will be able to return to its natural state.”
Further details about demolitions in the town can be found on their official website.
