In April, Stony Brook University's Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) invited students to participate in the annual "Thank a Teacher" program. This initiative allows students to acknowledge educators who have made a significant impact on their educational journey.
This year, 63 educators from various departments at Stony Brook were recognized by students for their contributions. CELT Director Rose Tirotta-Esposito commented on the importance of this recognition, stating, "Good teachers do more than impart knowledge; they are mentors, role models and helpful guides as students progress on their paths to rewarding careers and lives." She expressed her satisfaction with the program's outcomes and congratulated the faculty members for their dedication.
The list of honored educators includes professionals from diverse fields such as Nursing, Medicine, Computer Science, History, Psychology, Mathematics, Economics, Biology, Philosophy, Music, and many others. Some of the notable names among the recipients are Tina Abbate from Nursing, Andrew Wackett from Renaissance School of Medicine, Karen Beck from School of Professional Development, Michael Bender from Computer Science, and Blake Benz from Public Health Administration.
