A former employee has filed a lawsuit against Peconic Landing at Southold and two individuals, Mary Lavery and Lindsey Corwin, alleging a series of discriminatory and retaliatory actions that culminated in her termination.
Plaintiff Bridget Riley-Marine alleges that the defendants violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. She claims she experienced discrimination based on her disability and her association with her son, who also has a disability. She also alleges that she was subjected to sexual harassment and retaliation for advocating on behalf of patients with disabilities. Riley-Marine states that she reported incidents involving inadequate care and unsafe working conditions but was subjected to negative employment actions rather than corrective responses. She further alleges that she was terminated shortly after taking family leave to care for her son and following breast surgery. Despite submitting medical documentation supporting her return to work, she contends she was dismissed.
The complaint also describes an incident in which Riley-Marine reported sexual harassment involving explicit images left on workplace computers by a male colleague. She alleges that after filing a formal complaint, Peconic Landing did not take appropriate disciplinary action and violated confidentiality regarding her report. She claims this led to a hostile work environment, including an incident in which she was publicly confronted at work by the spouse of the individual she reported.
Riley-Marine seeks back pay, front pay, compensatory damages, emotional distress damages, attorney’s fees, costs, and other relief the court may deem appropriate. She seeks relief from Peconic Landing as well as from the individual defendants.
