The William Floyd United Teachers (WFUT) recently recognized students from the William Floyd High School Class of 2025 who have committed to joining the United States military post-graduation. The ceremony was attended by WFUT representatives and Philip Scotto, the principal of William Floyd High School. Each enlistee received a t-shirt featuring the district logo with "William Floyd Alumni" on the front and their chosen branch of service's logo on the back.

A total of ten students have made this commitment. The Air Force will welcome Kyle Desimone, Perry Nacionales, Cameron Randall, and Colby Walker. Angelica Amaya, Elijah Copelin, Rafaela Garcia Mendoza, and Joseph Narvaez are set to join the Marines. Thomas Colby and Emely Reyes Cordaro will enlist in the Navy.

“We, the united teachers of the William Floyd School District could not be prouder of these local heroes. We have great confidence that our way of life will endure due to their service,” said WFUT representatives.

These students were also honored at Brookhaven Town's 10th annual “Our Community Salutes” celebration for their upcoming service.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
