William Floyd School District announces summer music enrichment program

William Floyd School District | Official website

The William Floyd School District is set to host a Summer Music Enrichment Program aimed at extending students' musical development beyond the regular school year. The program, which costs $180 per student, offers a relaxed setting for skill enhancement. However, transportation will not be provided.

Students should choose their participation based on their performing group during the 2024-25 school year. The program is divided into Junior and Senior categories. Juniors include students who have completed grades 4 through 6 and are part of band, orchestra, or chorus during the school year. Seniors encompass those who have completed grades 7 through 11 in similar groups.

Participants can opt for various activities including Chorus, Band, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble (for seniors only), Guitar, Piano, Ukulele, and Musical Theater. All sessions will take place from July 7 to July 17, Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to noon at the William Floyd High School Music Suites in Mastic Beach.

Registration forms must be submitted by June 6 along with payment to the Fine Arts Office at William Floyd High School. Checks or money orders should be made payable to the William Floyd School District.

"To be in chorus, band, and orchestra you must be enrolled in the school year program," stated an official notice. Other courses are open enrollment. The program's continuation depends on enrollment numbers and no refunds will be issued once it begins.

Is There a New Ace in Town?

The New York Mets have a new ace, and fantasy owners have been accustomed to viewing Freddy Peralta as a near-ace for some time. The move to a more pitcher-friendly park should help, but do not overreach, because the reality is that the lineup around him is roughly the same and the bullpen is likely worse at protecting his leads. Peralta has been a standout for years, and slotting him in as a high-value fantasy arm is easy. The question is just how high he should go.
