William Floyd High School senior Aboni Hossain has been named the recipient of the 2025 Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award for Suffolk County. This award is given annually to a young woman who shows commitment to public service and volunteerism, exhibits strong leadership skills, and is dedicated to empowering women globally. The award includes a $500 scholarship check presented by representatives from the Zonta Club of Suffolk County.

Aboni Hossain is actively involved in various activities both at school and in her community. At William Floyd High School, she participates in the National Honor Society, Model UN, Medical Club, Tutoring Club, and Interact Club. Outside school, she engages in research projects and volunteers as a patient representative at Long Island Community Hospital. She also tutors English with Paper Airplanes, a non-profit organization offering language instruction to teens affected by conflict. Although undecided on her college choice, Aboni plans to major in biology on a pre-medical track.

The Zonta Club of Suffolk County commented: “Miss Hossain submitted an outstanding essay and her incredible volunteer experiences with Paper Planes and as a volunteer at a local hospital strongly stood out to our award committee. We wish her all the best in her studies and congratulate her on her many achievements.”
