Stony Brook celebrates Class of 2025 with commencement week brunch

Riccardo McClendon Assistant Vice President and Dean of Students | Stony Brook University

Stony Brook University held a "Cap & Gown Brunch" on May 20 at the Student Activities Center’s Shore Club to honor the Class of 2025. The event marked the beginning of Commencement Week for the graduating class.

Dean of Students Ric McClendon opened the celebration by introducing Interim President Richard L. McCormick. In his address, McCormick encouraged graduates to reflect on their experiences at Stony Brook University. “As you get ready to wear your caps and gowns, spreading a sea of red across LaValle Stadium, I ask you to reflect back on your time here at Stony Brook,” he stated. He highlighted the importance of connections made, challenges faced, and memories created during their time at the university.

“These are the times you will remember forever, Seawolves,” McCormick added. “A toast to you and those who helped you along the way, and congratulations.”

The event provided an opportunity for graduates to take photos, share laughter, and enjoy refreshments. Additionally, the first 200 students in attendance received a Class of 2025 champagne flute as a memento.

The Office of Student Life hosted this celebratory brunch for the graduates.
