When a group of baby ducks decided to take a waddle down Ducky Lane in Mastic Beach on Tuesday, they had no idea their day would turn into an adventure.

The baby birds are no match for the sewer grates, and they fall right through. Luckily for them, the Suffolk County Police came to their rescue.

After a 911 caller reported the trapped foursome, Seventh Precinct Officers Sean Roche, Douglas Minogue, Kellie Znaniecki, Zachary Proctor, and Danielle Piotrowski successfully rescued the ducklings.

After being pulled to safety, the four babies continued on their way. You can see the officers each holding a tiny duckling in their hands.

A quick search on Social media shows Suffolk County Police officers coming to the rescue of ducklings and goslings just about every year.

In previous years, officers had to climb down into the drain.

This year, with the net in hand, officers got it done easily. It didn’t take long for the comment section of SCPD’s Facebook page to fill up with praise for their duckling rescue efforts.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
