William Floyd students selected for Long Island String Festival

Kevin Meyer Board Member | William Floyd School District

Fourteen student-musicians from the William Floyd School District have been chosen to participate in the Long Island String Festival Association (LISFA) this school year. The group includes nine students from William Floyd High School, three from William Paca Middle School, one from William Floyd Middle School, and one from John S. Hobart Elementary School.

The LISFA festival features top string performers from various school districts across Long Island. Students are nominated by their teachers and selected by a panel of Suffolk County music educators based on their performance scores from the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) solo adjunctions. Being selected for LISFA is considered a significant honor for these young musicians.

The selected students include Emily Behrens, Frank Canales, Lynette Cardona, Arianna Caserma, Kaelyn Green, Vincent Montecalvo, Ava Ng, Connor Ng, and James Rahman from William Floyd High School; Alani Bosch, Roman Carballo, and Jaxon DiFiretus from William Paca Middle School; Gianna Formato from William Floyd Middle School; and Keira Almodovar from John S. Hobart Elementary School.

Acknowledgment also goes to their teachers: Diana Brown Hoppe and Sarah Weber at William Floyd High School; Lauren Farrell and Gabriella Forgit at William Paca Middle School; Amanda Gardner at William Floyd Middle School; and Katelyn Levine at John S. Hobart Elementary School.

"The William Floyd School District is very proud of these amazing student-musicians for their hard work and accomplishments!"

LISFA was established in 1956 with the mission to educate young string musicians by offering them opportunities to work with renowned conductors and musicians nationwide.
