Following a decisive victory over Elon with a score of 15-4 in the CAA Championship Semifinals on May 1, the Stony Brook women’s lacrosse team is set to compete for the CAA championship. The team, currently ranked No. 19, will face Drexel for the title on Saturday, May 3, at 12:30 pm at LaValle Stadium. The match will be available for live streaming on LacrosseTV.
This victory has earned the Seawolves a place in their third consecutive CAA championship game. It also marks their 12th conference championship appearance in the past 14 years. During the match against Elon, Avery Hines made history with a new program record for career caused turnovers. Additionally, Natalia Altebrando achieved a single-game record for saves in a conference tournament match.
Seven players contributed to the Seawolves’ scoring efforts, with six netting multiple goals. Charlotte Wilmoth and Casey Colbert both completed hat tricks, with Wilmoth leading the team with a game-high of six points.
Defensively, Hines distinguished herself with four caused turnovers, while Isabella Caporuscio collected four ground balls. Altebrando excelled in goal, notching 12 saves and achieving a .750 save percentage.
Stony Brook heads into the final seeking another CAA title in their continued success story.
