Marathoner Eva Casale begins ninth annual mission honoring veterans

Eva Casale Honored | Town of Brookhaven

Farmingville, NY - Ultra-marathoner Eva Casale is set to embark on her ninth annual mission to honor veterans. Over seven consecutive days, Eva, along with Team E.V.A., will run seven marathons. This event will cover a distance of more than 184 miles and span over 400 Points of Honor. These points are places where tributes will be laid to recognize the sacrifices of U.S. veterans and service members.

The journey commenced with a special event at Brookhaven Town Hall, attended by Supervisor Dan Panico and 6th District Council Member Karen Dunne Kesnig. Supervisor Panico presented Eva with a proclamation in recognition of her dedication and the impact of her efforts. Council Member Kesnig expressed admiration for Eva’s commitment and encouraged the community to support the mission.

"Eva Casale’s tribute reminds us of the debt we owe to those who have bravely served our nation," Supervisor Panico stated. "Her efforts unite communities and inspire us to express gratitude for the heroes among us."

The journey will continue throughout Long Island, with residents invited to participate and reflect on the veterans and active service members. More information can be found at www.goteameva.org.

Is There a New Ace in Town?

The New York Mets have a new ace, and fantasy owners have been accustomed to viewing Freddy Peralta as a near-ace for some time. The move to a more pitcher-friendly park should help, but do not overreach, because the reality is that the lineup around him is roughly the same and the bullpen is likely worse at protecting his leads. Peralta has been a standout for years, and slotting him in as a high-value fantasy arm is easy. The question is just how high he should go.
