Stony Brook Bariatric Center named Best on Long Island for third consecutive year

Aaurora Pryor MD, Chief of Bariatric, Center’s director | Stony Brook University

Stony Brook Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center has earned the title of Best Bariatric Practice on Long Island for the third year running. The accolade is part of the Best of Long Island (BoLI) awards, which are determined by the Long Island public across 14 categories, including Health, Wellness & Beauty.

Under the leadership of Director and Division Chief Konstantinos Spaniolas, MD, the center offers a variety of weight loss solutions. These include surgical and non-surgical options such as medical management, diet and exercise plans, counseling, behavior modification, and group support. The team consists of board-certified professionals who boast significant surgical experience, having conducted over 4,000 surgeries — more than 1,970 of which were bariatric procedures, with 95 percent performed laparoscopically.

Beyond the BoLI awards, Stony Brook Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center is recognized on a national level for its exceptional performance and outcomes. Unlike many bariatric surgery centers, it holds a top-level national accreditation (Comprehensive Center with Adolescent Qualifications) from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).

Further information is available on the Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center's website.
