Improvements to the 7-11 in Mastic Beach were green-lighted during a recent meeting of the Brookhaven Planning Board.

“Much needed and significant” upgrades include facade, parking lot, curbing, drainage, and landscape work, according to town Councilwoman Karen Dunne-Kesnig, who sits on the planning board as a town council member.

The popular store is located at the prominent intersection of Mastic and Mastic Beach roads near William Floyd High School. It is one of many on Long Island serving coffee, snacks, and other conveniences.

One of the most recognizable brands in the world, 7-11 started in Dallas, TX in 1927 as “Tote’m Stores” because customers would tote away their purchases. They changed to 7-11 in 1946 to reflect their extended hours. The Mastic Beach store is open 24-7.
