In a significant development for William Floyd High School, the cheerleading team is set to compete in the National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) for the first time. The event will take place in Orlando, Florida, from February 7-10, 2025. This opportunity represents a major milestone for the team and their coaches as they prepare to showcase their skills on a prominent national stage.

The NHSCC is recognized as one of the most competitive cheerleading events in the United States, attracting top teams nationwide. For William Floyd's cheerleaders, this accomplishment reflects years of dedication and effort. Under head coach Jessica Alvi and assistant coach Christina Molnar, the team has developed strong skills and camaraderie that have propelled them to this point.

“We are incredibly proud of this team for making it to the NHSCC,” said Coach Alvi. “This is a dream come true for our athletes, and it’s a testament to their commitment and passion for the sport. They have worked incredibly hard to get here, and we know they'll give it their all when they take the floor. Our motto for this trip comes from the magical fairytale Cinderella, even miracles take a little time.”

The team's journey to NHSCC was challenging but marked by resilience and determination. Their success underscores a strong work ethic both on and off the mat. As they prepare to compete against some of the nation's best teams, William Floyd's cheerleaders aim to make an impact in competitive cheerleading.

For William Floyd High School, this achievement signifies more than just success for its cheerleading team; it's a moment of pride for the entire community. The team expressed gratitude towards their community for support and donations that facilitated their path to NHSCC. Coach Alvi acknowledged these contributions: “We are beyond grateful for the encouragement and belief you've shown in our team. We couldn't have done it without you and our supportive team families.”

Recently, William Floyd's Colonials participated in Newsday Cheerfest's Second Annual competition among leading teams from Nassau and Suffolk counties, securing a top-five finish.

“A the team heads to Orlando for the NHSCC on February 7, all eyes will be on William Floyd," concluded Coach Alvi. "A school that has proven that with hard work, determination, and a lot of heart, anything is possible."
