The William Floyd High School Medical Club donated $500 to the Child Life Program at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.

The school's Medical Club, led by William Floyd High School science educator Terri Randall, continued their yearly tradition of donating to the Child Life Program at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital.

This year’s donation of $500 continues to help the team at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital bring comfort and positivity to children who are going through hospitalization.

The William Floyd High School Medical Club has donated more than $4,600 to the Child Life Program over the past eight years.

Ms. Randall and the members of the Medical Club presented the donation to Michael Attard, a certified child life specialist at Stony Brook Children’s Hospital during a recent meeting.

Michael also provided the club members with important information on all of the work that is being done to support children in the Child Life Department.

The Child Life Program supports children and their families by helping reduce the stress that pediatric patients and their families experience when faced with illness, medical procedures, and unfamiliar surroundings.

The program also provides therapeutic, educational, and recreational activities to meet the unique emotional and developmental needs of children during their hospital stays.
