High school senior nominated for U.S. Presidential Scholars Program

William Floyd High School senior Victoria Basharina has been nominated for the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program, an honor given to only 25 students in New York State. Her achievements were highlighted in a recent article in the January 31, 2025 edition of the New York Post.

Victoria Basharina has attended William Floyd schools from grades 1 through 12, including Moriches Elementary School and William Floyd Middle School. The story in the New York Post features her alongside WFHS guidance counselor Ashley Seibert, science teacher Dr. Martin Palermo, and Alex Mitchell, a reporter from the New York Post.
