Thousands of visitors gathered at the Port Jefferson Ice Festival on January 25 and 26, marking the sixth annual event hosted by the Port Jefferson Business Improvement District. The festival featured an array of attractions, including ice sculptures from Stony Brook Medicine and Stony Brook University.
The Stony Brook sculptures, featuring a penguin and bear as well as Wolfie, were prominently displayed at West Broadway and Main Street in Port Jefferson Village. These works were among more than 30 ice sculptures crafted for the event by Rich Daly, owner of Ice Memories based in Mastic Beach, NY. Daly is an acclaimed ice sculptor with over 200 competition titles to his name, including ten Gold Medals from the U.S. National Ice Carving Championships. He also holds a Guinness World Record for creating 60 sculptures in less than three hours.
Festival attendees had the opportunity to witness live ice carving demonstrations alongside various activities such as ice corn hole, marshmallow roasting, hot chocolate stands, mini golf on ice, skating demonstrations, tractor rides, karaoke sessions, interactive games and live performances.
