Kevin Meyer Board Member | William Floyd School District

William Floyd Learning Center student Jeremy Pelaez has been recognized for his artistic contribution in the Brookhaven Town recycling poster contest. Jeremy, a fifth-grader in Sandra Bretton’s art class, secured second place with his artwork. His creation will be displayed at Brookhaven Town Hall and featured on the town's website, social media, and in the winter edition of the Green Gazette newsletter.

Participants in the contest were tasked with creating posters based on two themes: “Recycle Every Day!” and “Stop Litter!” These themes encouraged students to consider recyclable items and promote careful disposal of trash. The competition saw various creative entries, many incorporating the Town of Brookhaven's recycling mascot, Curby.

Jeremy received a framed copy of his poster along with a certificate for his achievement. William Floyd Learning Center had several participants from Sandra Bretton’s class including Elijah Ross, Ethan Ross, Liam Cordova Once, Preslee Ancona, Riley DeMillio, Travis Hamilton, and Aliyah Amaya. Additionally, students from Amanda Maertz’s class at Moriches Elementary School also participated.
