Jaclyn Ahearn Senior Executive Assistant to the President | Stony Brook University

Devinder Mahajan, a professor at Stony Brook University, has been recognized by the State University of New York (SUNY) with the Technology Accelerator Fund (TAF) award for 2024. As part of this honor, SUNY is providing $425,000 to support seven projects that have potential impacts on healthcare, environmental protection, and high-tech electronics in New York.

Mahajan's research focuses on developing a system to store and release blended hydrogen and methane under near-ambient conditions. This work aims to address challenges in storing and releasing hydrogen efficiently, which is crucial for sustainable energy development.

The TAF award is managed by the SUNY Research Foundation and supports faculty inventors across the SUNY system. The fund assists in bridging research with commercial applications by supporting feasibility studies, prototyping, and testing. Since its inception in 2011, TAF has contributed over $3.5 million towards advancing 72 innovations within the SUNY system.

This program has also attracted more than $16 million in follow-on investments from government agencies, industry partners, and early-stage investors.

Is There a New Ace in Town?

The New York Mets have a new ace, and fantasy owners have been accustomed to viewing Freddy Peralta as a near-ace for some time. The move to a more pitcher-friendly park should help, but do not overreach, because the reality is that the lineup around him is roughly the same and the bullpen is likely worse at protecting his leads. Peralta has been a standout for years, and slotting him in as a high-value fantasy arm is easy. The question is just how high he should go.
