William Floyd Middle School's general music teacher, Jonathan Dignam, has taken the initiative to spread holiday cheer by creating a comprehensive map of festively decorated homes in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Known as the LI Lights Map, this resource aims to help families enjoy the holiday season by showcasing beautifully adorned houses.
Mr. Dignam refers to this project as his "winter hobby." The map includes over 570 locations featuring light shows, mega trees, animatronics, blow-ups, classic blow molds, and more. It also extends into New York City. The website offers additional features such as spreadsheets, a submission/update form, and scavenger hunts.
Users can access the LI Lights Map online where they can click on icons for detailed information and pictures of each location. Mr. Dignam encourages users to submit any new or undiscovered festive homes not already included on the map.
The LI Lights Map is updated multiple times daily to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness.
