Be Well Fest 2024 promotes student health services with increased participation

Judith Brown Clarke Vice President for Equity and Inclusion Chief Diversity Officer | Stony Brook University

Be Well Fest returned for its second year, aiming to introduce students to the various Student Health, Wellness, and Prevention Services in an engaging setting. The event on September 17 attracted over 400 students, surpassing last year's attendance.

The festival's goal is to encourage students to manage their physical and mental health. This year saw the introduction of a flu pod hosted by CVS Pharmacy, which was well-received as students prepared for the flu season.

Activities included tie-dying, rock painting, lawn games, and free ice cream. Students were also offered tours of the Student Health and Counseling Center. The event continued into the afternoon with appearances from Wolfie, adding to the positive atmosphere. Feedback has been largely positive, with anticipation already building for next year's event.

“Be Well Fest is a special opportunity for us to come together and express our gratitude to our students for entrusting us with their well-being," said Marisa Bisiani, associate vice president for Health, Wellness, and Prevention Services. "Each of us plays a unique and essential role in their lives, and it is a privilege to impact their journey positively."

With increased participation and an expanded program this year, Be Well Fest is growing in scope and influence. Planning is underway for next year's event.
