Councilwoman Bonner attends peace pole dedication at local school

Jane Bonner Councilwoman District 2 | Town of Brookhaven

On November 18, Councilwoman Jane Bonner attended a ceremony at Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School in Rocky Point for the dedication of a Peace Pole. The pole is a handcrafted monument bearing the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in multiple languages on its four sides. This event included community members, school leaders, district officials, students, and the Peace Pole committee.

Peace poles have their origins in Japan following World War II and are now present in significant locations worldwide such as the United Nations, the Pentagon, and the Peace Palace in The Hague. These poles serve as reminders to promote peace and harmony within communities.

Councilwoman Bonner expressed her support by joining this dedication ceremony alongside other attendees.
