A new mural has been unveiled at the Educational Communications Center (ECC) building at Stony Brook University, bringing a vibrant touch to the School of Communication and Journalism (SoCJ). The project, spearheaded by senior Emma Erhard, was completed on September 20 with participation from students, faculty, and staff.

Erhard's initiative is part of a collaboration with the Campus Beautification Committee (CBC) and SoCJ. Lori Kie, communications director for SoCJ, commented on the mural's significance: “Everything we do here is about supporting our students and helping them find their place on campus. It’s an invitation.”

The ECC building often goes unnoticed as a hub for journalism students. The new mural aims to change that perception. Erhard expressed her gratitude towards the university: “I’m happy that I get to give something back to a place that keeps giving me so much to me.”

Laura Lindenfeld, Dean of SoCJ, praised those involved in the project: “Bringing together art and ideas, I am just so proud of Emma, staff, faculty and students who are bringing beauty and excitement to this campus.”

Students like Isha Shaah also participated in painting the mural. Shaah remarked on Erhard’s talent: “She is so incredibly talented and I love her so much. I am really happy that she gets to do this as part of an effort to make the campus unique.”

The CBC encourages student involvement in beautifying the campus through art projects. They invite individuals interested in proposing projects or volunteering for future initiatives.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
