Ducks Promote Sean Smith to General Manager

Prior to entering their 24th season of operation in the Atlantic League, the Long Island Ducks hope to – once again – field a roster full of superstar talent and make it back to the promised land after falling short in the postseason last fall.

Since the season wrapped up last fall, there were a lot of questions as to how the Quack Attack would replace the vacancies at both manager and general manager prior to opening day.

The Ducks chose to deal with the managerial situation first as ownership decided to promote hitting coach/outfielder and fan favorite Lew Ford to manager prior to the beginning of the new year.

Since Ford was hired, the new concern within the organization was who would become the next general manager? Michael Pfaff was moving up in the ranks since he became the Team President and Chief Business Officer and there were no leads on who would be interviewed or asked to fill Pfaff’s old position up until the day the announcement was made.

The Ducks once again decided to hire within the organization as assistant general manager Sean Smith was recently promoted by ownership. He will now be running the show as the Flock’s General Manager.

“As we continue to expand our business, we are excited to see and recognize the continued growth of our front office staff,” said Ducks Owner/CEO Frank Boulton in a written statement about the recent promotion of Smith and a few other of his colleagues. “We are looking forward to making 2024 the best season of Ducks baseball yet.”

Along with Smith, the Ducks had also made a bunch of other promotions within the organization that included Anthony Polito being promoted to Smith’s previous position as Assistant GM/Stadium Operations manager.

Sean Mulhall was promoted to Group Sales Manager, Justice Lallier became the Ticket Sales Manager and Augie Fortugno is now the Duck’s Promotions Manager.
