Democrat Calls for Hochul to Pardon Trump

A Democratic Congressman who challenged President Joe Biden for the Democratic nomination for President in 2024 is calling on New York Governor Kathy Hochul to pardon President Donald J. Trump.

Since President Trump was found guilty of 34 fraud-related charges in New York State Supreme Court, Governor Hochul has the power to grant a pardon.

“Donald Trump is a serial liar, cheater, and philanderer, a six-time declarer of corporate bankruptcy, an instigator of insurrection, and a convicted felon who thrives on portraying himself as a victim.@GovKathyHochul should pardon him for the good of the country,” wrote Congressman Dean B. Phillips on “X,” the platform previously known as Twitter.

Even though Governor Hochul has not responded to the call for her to pardon President Trump, Democratic Congressman Phillips doubled down on his call for her to do so.

“You think pardoning is stupid? Making him a martyr over a payment to a porn star is stupid. (Election charges are entirely different.) It’s energizing his base, generating record sums of campaign cash, and will likely result in an electoral boost,” added Phillips.

Since the New York trial against President Trump was not in federal court, there is no role or authority for President Biden to issue a pardon concerning the matter before State Supreme Court Justice Juan Merhcan.

“We will have violence. That’s coming. 70 million people voted for Donald Trump. President Biden should pardon Donald Trump of any and all crimes, and suggest publicly that Governor Hochul do the same thing,” said former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly while appearing with Chris Cuomo on News Nation.

“Hochul will never pardon Trump. For the same reasons Democrats rarely dissent from The Party or its donors. The smart Democrats know a backlash is coming. And they are panicking. They are trying to appease the forces they have unleashed. Too late,” wrote Joel Pollak, Senior Editor-at-Large and In-house Counsel at Breitbart News.
