Floyd Academy Recognizes Mid-Year Graduates

The Floyd Academy recently hosted its mid-year graduation ceremony to recognize the 16 newest alumni and first members of the Class of 2023. The celebratory gathering, including the graduates, their family, friends, faculty, staff, administrators and Board of Education members, recently took place in the senior cafeteria. Graduates will also have the opportunity to walk with their peers at the full June graduation ceremony.

“Graduation confirms that with the right support, maintaining a sense of determination and focus, you can achieve your goals in life,” said John DeBenedetto, Floyd Academy principal. “I encourage you to strive for excellence and demand greatness from yourself. We are extremely proud of you and are happy to share this moment together. On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Floyd Academy and the William Floyd School District, I wish for each of you, a life that will be richer and more rewarding beyond your wildest dreams.”

At the ceremony, Mr. DeBenedetto shared highlights about each graduate and their future plans, which include entering the workforce, attending college to study nursing or interest in learning a trade such as culinary, carpentry, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), becoming an x-ray technician, a tattoo artist, a flight attendant and more.

Congratulations to the 16 mid-year graduates: Veronica Alvarez Recinos, Aniya Berry, Kiarri Brown, Alexandra Burkhardt, Kayla Capuano, Tanyiah Davis, Aniyah Dellagatta, Anisa Jackson, Tiffany Millwater, D’Moree Perez, Dakota Roberts, Richard Shaw, Ariana Soto, Serena Stanley, Marcellous Stevenson. Additionally, one of the graduates was Taylor Beltramini, who tragically passed away in December 2021. A moment of silence was held in her honor at the onset of the ceremony.
