Longtime Town of Brookhaven employee and Vietnam Veteran Walter Maresco was inducted into the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame in Albany. The Air Force veteran is the nominee of New York State Senator Dean Murrary.

“A truly wonderful and deserving person. Walter is a longtime Town of Brookhaven employee who serves with honor and distinction. I see Walter from time to time when I pull up to Town Hall in the morning, or at times passing near the law department, and my day is always better because of the brief conversation. God bless you Walter, thank you for your service to our country and to the residents of the Town of Brookhaven,” said Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico.

In the mid-1960’s Mr. Maresco was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, when he volunteered to go to Vietnam where he served for over a year and attained the rank of Airman 1st Class.

Is There a New Ace in Town?

The New York Mets have a new ace, and fantasy owners have been accustomed to viewing Freddy Peralta as a near-ace for some time. The move to a more pitcher-friendly park should help, but do not overreach, because the reality is that the lineup around him is roughly the same and the bullpen is likely worse at protecting his leads. Peralta has been a standout for years, and slotting him in as a high-value fantasy arm is easy. The question is just how high he should go.
