William Floyd United Teachers (WFUT) is set to host its second annual 1,000 Coat Giveaway on Saturday, November 23. The event will take place at the William Floyd High School west gymnasium, starting at 9 a.m. WFUT invites the community to participate in this event designed to support families as temperatures drop and holiday celebrations begin.

The giveaway features 1,000 coats, winter gloves, and scarves made possible by contributions from Helpsy, East End Screen Printing, and William Floyd teachers. Additionally, WFUT will distribute 300 frozen turkeys and Thanksgiving sides to ensure families can enjoy a complete holiday meal.

A special feature of the event is "Santa’s Corner," where children can experience holiday joy with music performed by William Floyd students. Children will also have the opportunity to pick out books, toys, and ornaments crafted by William Floyd High School CTE carpentry students.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., or while supplies last. It is supported by several community partners including Helpsy; PJ Balzer; Kevin Donovan and Mutual Inc.; AFT’s “Reading Opens the World” initiative; East End Screen Printing; Mitev Law Firm; AFLAC; Katherine Martin and Cetera Investors; Feldman/Kramer/Monaco, PC.; TJ’s Hero Shop; Lenny Bruno Farms; Jim Scheidel and VOYA Financial; along with William Floyd teachers and students.
