William Floyd Colonials advance to semifinals after defeating Sachem East

The William Floyd Colonials varsity football team secured a spot in the semifinals of the Suffolk County Division I playoffs with a decisive 43-22 victory over Sachem East. The match took place on Saturday, led by head coach Paul Longo. This win positions the Colonials to face No. 4 Sachem North on November 16 at noon, a team they previously defeated 48-28 on October 19.

Ja'Quan Thomas was instrumental in the victory, rushing for six touchdowns and a two-point conversion. He accumulated 303 yards over 26 carries. Quarterback A.J. Cannet contributed by completing nine out of ten passes for 75 yards. Jack Molini and Geo Alvarez were key players in receiving, with Molini catching three passes for 36 yards and Alvarez securing four catches for 22 yards.

Defensively, Zamari Wilkins made significant contributions with ten tackles, including four for losses, and three sacks. Aaron Fisher also added seven tackles, one of which resulted in a loss.

Tickets for the upcoming semifinal game are available online due to Section XI's policy against accepting cash or checks at the venue. Tickets cost $8.35 each, while children under twelve can attend free of charge.

Coach Longo and his team aim to continue their pursuit of a fifteenth Suffolk County title and sixth Long Island championship as they prepare for the next stage of competition.
