The William Floyd Colonials varsity football team, under the guidance of head coach Paul Longo, has concluded their regular season with a victory over Connetquot, finishing 42-30. This win marks their 16th Division I championship in the program's history and positions them well for the upcoming playoffs. The Colonials ended the season with a record of 7-1 and have qualified for the playoffs for the 25th consecutive year. They aim to secure their 15th Suffolk County Championship.

Ranked No. 1, the Colonials will face No. 8 Sachem East in a quarterfinal playoff game on Saturday, November 9 at noon. The match will be held at home, and tickets are not required for this round. However, identification is necessary for attendance as per existing procedures.

"Winning the division ensures that the road to Stony Brook and the Suffolk County Championship game must go through William Floyd," highlighting their advantage of hosting two playoff games. Earlier this season, they defeated Sachem East with a score of 48-20.

In their recent game against Connetquot, A.J. Cannet contributed significantly by throwing for 197 yards and two touchdowns while also rushing twice for three yards and another score. Receivers Josh Jordan and Geo Alvarez were on the receiving end of these touchdown passes. Ja’Quan Thomas led the ground game with an impressive performance alongside his offensive line teammates, accumulating 241 yards and three touchdowns.

Defensively, Aisays Wallace made notable contributions with 12 tackles (one for a loss) and two batted passes. Aaron Fisher added six tackles (one for a loss), along with a sack; Jake Rivera also recorded six tackles (two for a loss) and secured one sack.

With these achievements in mind, Coach Longo and his team are focused on securing another county title.
