Stony Brook Medicine has announced leadership changes within its Stony Brook Community Medical (SBCM) and Meeting House Lane (MHL) divisions, effective November 1, 2024. This follows Dr. William Wertheim's promotion to Executive Vice President of Health Sciences and Stony Brook Medicine.
Dr. Konstantinos Spaniolas will take on the role of President for both SBCM and MHL. He is currently the Chief of the Division of Bariatric, Foregut, and Advanced GI Surgery at Stony Brook Medicine and Director of the Stony Brook Bariatric and Metabolic Weight Loss Center. To assist him in his new responsibilities, Dr. Dara Brener will become Medical Director of SBCM, while Dr. Lara DeSanti-Siska will assume the same position at MHL.
Jennifer Crema will be promoted to Executive Director of SBAS and MHL from her current role as Executive Director of Stony Brook Administrative Services.
Dr. John Patrick Reilly, who served as President of MHL, will now lead East End Cardiology Development as its Director.
William A. Wertheim expressed gratitude towards his colleagues: “It is my privilege to work alongside so many dedicated healthcare professionals.” He also thanked Dr. Reilly for his leadership and congratulated Drs. Spaniolas, Brener, and DeSanti-Siska on their new roles.
Carol A. Gomes also extended her congratulations: “Congratulations to each team member on their new roles within Stony Brook Medicine.”
Stony Brook Medicine integrates various health-related initiatives including education, research, and patient care across several hospitals and community-based settings throughout Suffolk County.
