Gianna Trotta, an 11th-grade student at William Floyd High School and a member of the varsity field hockey team, has been recognized as one of the top 50 field hockey players for the fall 2024 season by Newsday.

Newsday highlighted Trotta's performance, describing her as a "versatile player" for the Colonials. In 2023, she scored three goals and made 11 assists, earning All-Classification status from the Suffolk County Field Hockey Coaches Association. Apart from her achievements in field hockey, Trotta is also a starter on the girls’ varsity lacrosse team.

In the current season, Trotta has continued to impress. She leads her team with six goals and four assists through ten games. With four regular-season games remaining, she aims to surpass her previous record of 14 points set during her sophomore year. Her contributions have kept the team competitive in the Division I playoff race under head coach Maria Carucci.

"Congratulations, Gianna!"
