Stony Brook University hosts annual Supplier Diversity Fair

Judith Brown Clarke Vice President for Equity and Inclusion Chief Diversity Officer | Stony Brook University

Stony Brook University’s Office of Procurement hosted its annual Supplier Diversity Fair on September 25. The event saw participation from about 30 exhibitors and over 200 faculty and staff members.

The fair aimed to introduce minority-owned, women-owned, and service-disabled veteran-owned companies to the university's staff. This initiative is part of an effort to diversify the supplier base and support the local economy. The participating companies showcased a variety of goods and services, including IT products and services, architecture and engineering services, medical and scientific lab supplies, promotional supplies, health and wellness services, spreadsheet services, and public speaking services.

“The connections made during the event are the opportunity for these small and local vendors to establish relationships with our faculty and staff, which broaden our network of suppliers and help support our local economy,” said Maria Bracco, MWBE-SDVOB program coordinator in the Office of Procurement.

For more information about the companies that exhibited at this year's event or details about next year’s fair, interested parties can contact Bracco at maria.bracco@stonybrook.edu or supplierdiversity@stonybrook.edu.

Is There a New Ace in Town?

The New York Mets have a new ace, and fantasy owners have been accustomed to viewing Freddy Peralta as a near-ace for some time. The move to a more pitcher-friendly park should help, but do not overreach, because the reality is that the lineup around him is roughly the same and the bullpen is likely worse at protecting his leads. Peralta has been a standout for years, and slotting him in as a high-value fantasy arm is easy. The question is just how high he should go.
