The Long Island Realtor of the Year? to Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine, it’s the Mayor of New York, whose socialist policies are driving businesses out of New York City. To capitalize on the flight from the Big Apple, the county has launched an ad campaign touting everything the suburbs have to offer.
“Mamdani deserves the ‘Realtor of the Year’ award because he’s doing more to promote businesses moving to Suffolk County than anyone I’ve ever seen in my entire career,” the executive quipped. “We’re making up the plaque as we speak.”
Romaine said Suffolk County wants businesses considering relocation to look east before heading to states such as Florida or Texas.
The new campaign, branded “Suffolk County is Open for Business,” features slogans including “trade the headlines for the shorelines,” “make the move, meet your potential,” and “where community meets opportunity.”
Advertisements pair scenic images of locations such as Smith Point County Park with headlines about concerns over rising taxes and anti-business sentiment in New York City.
“If you’re going to leave the city, don’t plan on a huge move. How about coming east? We’ll help you find a place. We’ll help move you in,” Romaine said.
Each ad includes a QR code directing prospective businesses to county resources designed to help companies relocate and establish operations quickly. Romaine said Suffolk is prepared to offer incentives and tax breaks to attract employers and investment.
Romaine blasted Zohran Mamdani for campaigning on “tax the rich” policies, arguing they are pushing businesses and residents out of the city.
“Between the governor and the mayor, New York State has lost more population than the other 49 states,” Romaine said. “That has to be disturbing.”
The county executive pointed to the industrial park in Hauppauge and dozens of other available commercial locations as evidence Suffolk County is positioned to absorb new growth.
